DIN Stainless Steel Fittings Dimensions
DIN 11851 is a hygienic pipe fitting standard originating in Germany and widely used across mainland Europe, particularly in dairy, food, and pharmaceutical processing. As with RJT, SMS, and IDF, a DIN union is made up of a male part and weld liner welded to the pipe ends, joined with a captive nut and sealed between two smooth faces — but again, DIN's own thread form and sealing geometry mean it isn't interchangeable with the other three standards, even at matching nominal pipe sizes.
The charts below give dimensional information for DIN standard male, nut, weld liner, blank, and seal parts. Dimensions shown are in mm; if you wish to convert to inches, please use our universal converter.

DIN fittings (Deutsches Institut fur Normung) are used in many Hygienic industries. The seals are available in two forms, the flanged or lipped design which provides a flush fitting and crevice free joint, or the more commonly used unlipped seal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why are there so many different hygienic fitting standards?
RJT, SMS, IDF, and DIN each developed independently within different national dairy and food industries before international trade made a single standard necessary — by the time that need arose, each had become deeply embedded in existing plant and equipment in its region, so all four remain in common use today rather than one superseding the others.
Can I convert an existing DIN-fitted line to a different standard?
Yes, by replacing the male and liner parts (and matching nut) to the new standard at each connection point, though this means re-welding those parts to the pipe — for an existing installation, it's often simpler to stick with matching replacement parts unless there's a specific reason to standardise across a whole site.
